Due to unforseen circumstances we cannot open the gallery this weekend but to make up for it will be here on Monday 10am - 1pm, and for any other privately arranged viewings and collections. Weekend opening times

Boxbird Gallery will be open this weekend for the last weekend of the Christmas Open House trail. There are lots of goodies to pick up including new prints from Graham Carter and Lee Baker. Join us from 10am - 4pm Saturday 13th December, and 11am - 4pm Sunday 14th December, 14 St Johns Road, Hove, BN3 2FB.

And for anyone that braves this weather to come down and see us we will reward your dedication with a free limited editionOne of a small set of prints. Hot off the Boxbird printing bed are Graham’s new Blue Root prints with giant trees and robots. These will make great Christmas presents at a bargain £50 each but get in there quick as they are only an edition of 10 and will fly out like hotcakes!

Disappear Here Magazine

Last night the Boxbird team headed of to the official launch of ‘Disappear Here’ magazine and drank far too many cocktails!!!  This is a fantastic magazine covers everything from fashion, music, and even has a great review all about little old Boxbird. The Editor at large is Peaches Geldof and even more excitingly the art director is our very own Stuart Tolley who has done an amazing job! Boxbird Fringe Exhibition - Open to Submissions

CinemaScope is an exhibition being hosted and curated by Boxbird Gallery during the Brighton Fringe Festival in May 2009. The exhibition includes new works based on the theme of cinema by the Boxbird artists and is also open to submissions.

The Brief

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a minimum of two limited editionOne of a small set of prints. The smaller the edition run the more valuable and unique the work prints (A2 size) for Boxbird’s ‘CinemaScope’ exhibition in May 2009. The prints can be based on any film of your choice and must either depict a scene, character, location, or be your own version of the film poster. Artwork can be produced in any format the artist wishes as long as it is suitable for rolling and posting, and is on A2 size paper with room for mounting.

Style of work

At Boxbird we specialise in limited editionOne of a small set of prints. The smaller the edition run the more valuable and unique the work prints and silk-screens by a variety of illustrators, printmakers and designers. If you think that your work would fit in with the style of other artists currently exhibiting with Boxbird then it’s probably worth applying for a place in CinemaScope, if you are a watercolour artist or photographer it probably wont be quite what we are looking for. Don’t forget that we are big supporters of emerging talent, students and recent graduates so regardless of your professional experience we look forward to hearing from you.

How to apply?

If you would like to apply for the CinemaScope exhibition please email Boxbird on hello@boxbird.co.uk requesting an application form. Please do not send examples of work at this stage just your name and email address please.

When is the application deadline?

Your completed application form and requested images must be sent to us by the 5th January 2009. When we receive your application we will send you an email to confirm we received it. If we like the style of your work you will be asked to produce two pieces of work to the above brief, deadlines for this part of the application will be the 15th March 2008.
